Titans Team Report
(Mon, 05 Jan 2009 19:48:21 PST)

With the Baltimore Ravens scheduled to hit town for the AFC Divisional Playoffs on Saturday, naturally, the talk regarding the game has shifted to previous postseason contests between the two old AFC Central rivals.

Specifically, the talk has been the deja vu of the 2000 playoffs, the only other time Tennessee held the top seed in the AFC field, only to have the upstart Ravens come into Nashville and stun the Titans 24-10, thanks to a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown and a Ray Lewis interception taken 50 yards for a score.

And even though the Titans did manage to take a measure of revenge three years later with a wild-card round win in Baltimore, Tennessee fans have never completely gotten over seeing the Ravens not only pull the upset that day, but go on...

Titans find themselves in rematch of 2000 playoff
(Sun, 04 Jan 2009 20:00:35 PST)
Now it really feels just like the 2000 season all over again for the Tennessee Titans. That was the season Tennessee posted the NFL's best record at 13-3 and earned the AFC's No. 1 seed with home-field advantage -- just like this year. Tampa is hosting the Super Bowl, just like in 2000. And the Baltimore Ravens added to the deja vu feeling Sunday by beating Miami 27-9 to earn a trip to Music City for...

Simms' stint with Titans has revived his arm, zest
(Fri, 02 Jan 2009 14:06:06 PST)
Chris Simms never has had this much fun not playing football. The 28-year-old quarterback sits on the Tennessee Titans' roster as the No. 3 quarterback behind veteran Kerry Collins and Vince Young. Simms feels revived physically, mentally and emotionally since signing with this team in September as an insurance policy when Young sprained his left knee in the opener.

Titans' playoff experience doubles from 2007
(Thu, 01 Jan 2009 15:15:09 PST)
The Tennessee Titans have given a lesson in how to rebuild a roster back to playoff quality. Tennessee went to San Diego a year ago with only 18 players who had prior postseason experience, a very young roster built largely through the draft. Now there are 37 such Titans led by a very seasoned core, and that knowledge is helpful as the team works through a bye week before hosting an AFC divisional...

Titans practice without Haynesworth, Vanden Bosch
(Wed, 31 Dec 2008 14:24:31 PST)
The Tennessee Titans returned to practice Wednesday with Pro Bowl defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, end Kyle Vanden Bosch and center Kevin Mawae all watching. Luckily, they have a first-round bye so the trio can keep healing. Haynesworth sat out the final two regular-season games with a sprained left knee.

12 Questions: Tomlinson's redemption shot
(Wed, 31 Dec 2008 03:56:00 PST)
The Chargers' LaDainian Tomlinson gets a chance to prove he hasn't lost a step – but he isn't healthy.

Want to reach playoffs? Find 2 good running backs
(Tue, 30 Dec 2008 14:57:58 PST)
They feature splashy nicknames. Smash and Dash. The newly unveiled Double Trouble. The Wildcat as well. Whatever you call them, they share one successful old school trait: Two running backs are better than one. The five NFL teams that had two backs with at least 160 carries apiece are all in the playoffs.

Rest, healing top focus for Titans in bye week
(Tue, 30 Dec 2008 08:30:45 PST)
Count the Tennessee Titans among the teams who don't believe momentum can be lost by taking a game off. Jeff Fisher already had the AFC's No. 1 seed locked up, so he rested some key Titans, pulled Kerry Collins after three plays and played every backup in a 23-0 loss to Indianapolis. Tennessee sure didn't look like it had the NFL's best record at 13-3 in a brisk regular-season finale that lasted 2...

AFC Playoff Primer: All six teams have a shot
(Mon, 29 Dec 2008 17:36:53 PST)
There is no perfect team going into this year's AFC playoffs. The six teams that did make the AFC postseason field all have the potential to make it to Tampa.

Vegas odds favor Giants, Titans to make Super Bowl
(Mon, 29 Dec 2008 13:04:50 PST)
Las Vegas sports books favor the New York Giants over the 11 other teams in the NFL playoffs to win the Super Bowl, giving 2-to-1 odds on the NFC's No. 1 seed to repeat as champions. The Tennessee Titans are the favorite among AFC teams to win a title at 4-1, closely followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers at 9-2.

AFC playoffs: Hottest team? Most impact?
(Mon, 29 Dec 2008 02:19:00 PST)
Answers to these questions and more will likely determine which team will represent the AFC in Super Bowl XLIII.

Winners and losers: McNabb, Reid stay alive
(Sun, 28 Dec 2008 21:57:00 PST)
Written off after a blowout loss to the Ravens, Donovan McNabb and Andy Reid aren't quite done in Philly.

Dolphins, Vikings, Panthers clinch divisions
(Sun, 28 Dec 2008 20:31:41 PST)
From the ugliness of 1-15 to the beauty of an AFC East title. That's the Miami Dolphins' story this season. The tale was nearly as good for the Atlanta Falcons, who went from 4-12 to an NFC wild-card berth. And for the NFC South-winning Carolina Panthers, who surged from 7-9 to 12-4. Minnesota improved by two games to 10-6 and that was good enough for the NFC North crown.

Titans RB Johnson inactive against Colts
(Sun, 28 Dec 2008 09:47:01 PST)
Tennessee Titans rookie running back Chris Johnson is inactive for Sunday's game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Colts, Titans put key starters on inactive list
(Sun, 28 Dec 2008 09:46:31 PST)
The Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans were taking no chances with key players in Sunday's meaningless game, deactivating 16 players who have started games this season. The Colts' inactive list included three starting defensive linemen: Pro Bowl ends Dwight Freeney and Robert Mathis, and tackle Eric Foster.

Titans' Thornton, Harper, Ball doubtful for Sunday
(Fri, 26 Dec 2008 15:01:47 PST)
The Tennessee Titans could be without as many as seven players for the season finale against Indianapolis on Sunday. Linebacker David Thornton (hip), cornerback Nick Harper (groin) and defensive end Dave Ball (back) will all be doubtful after not practicing Wednesday or Friday. Titans players had Christmas Day off.

Intrigue, relevance stick through final weekend
(Fri, 26 Dec 2008 08:29:00 PST)
From the Lions trying to avoid history to several teams hoping to make the playoffs, the league keeps fans engaged.
